If you have a toddler or two and they have used their pacifiers, also known as, binkies, since infanthood, and you are looking for a way to remove the binkie from their mouth, I can help you. This is the easiest way to remove all binkies and still have a happy toddler or two.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Toddler or two
  • Pacifier(s)
  • Plastic bags
  • Mailbox

    Remove Pacifier from Toddler

  1. Step 1

It is best to tell your toddler a week or two before the binkie removal event what you are going to do with the binkies. Once a week or two have passed, on a Saturday, preferably, tell you toddler it is time to say goodbye to their binkies.

  2. Step 2

The story I told my twins was that the stores no longer sold or carried binkies for the brand new babies who needed them. So, it was up to us to share their binkies with the new babies, their cousins and friends who needed them. When saying this, it is good to say in at a level they will understand and want to contribute all the babies without binkies.

  3. Step 3

In your toddler's room, maybe on their bed, place all their binkies in front of them with an empty plastic bag. Now, open the plastic bag and allow your toddler to fill the bag up with their beloved binkies. As your toddler is filling up the plastic bag, they may repeat over and over again what they are doing and who they are giving their binkies to. This will make your toddler feel proud.

  4. Step 4

Once the binkies are in the plastic bag, Mommy can zip it up. Then, Mommy and toddler can walk to their mailbox and allow the toddler to place the plastic bag full of binkies in the mailbox.

Tips & Warnings
  • Allow for a week of telling your toddler about giving their binkies away
  • Remind your toddler of what a big girl or boy they are
  • Congratulate them for giving their binkies to newborn babies
  • Even though this worked for me, it might not work for you. Improvise and change a few steps.
  • Once the binkies are "given" away, it is not a good thing to reintroduce them back into your toddler's life. They will soon get over their binkies.
