Step 1
Always wash your face and thoroughly dry it before you begin shaving with an electric razor.
-
Step 2
Trim any long hair that you have before you begin shaving with an electric razor. While you could shave long hair with a regular razor, it is not the best idea with an electric razor. Not only is trimming a lot easier, but it will prevent you from needing to clean the razor up more later on. If you have a centimeter of hair or more growing, trimming is in your best interest.
-
Step 3
Shave opposite the direction in which your facial hair is growing. If you want to prevent shaving often, this is very important to keep in mind. Shaving against the direction of the facial hair growth is the only way to ensure that you get a really close shave.
-
Step 4
Create very small, circular rotations with the electric razor. This works especially well if the only thing that you have to shave is very short stubble. For longer stubble, try to create slightly larger circular rotations over the skin.
-
Step 5
Avoid shaving the same spot over and over again. You will also want to avoid leaving the electric razor on one area of the skin for a very long period of time. Not only will this cause your hair to look uneven, but it may actually end up hurting.

Step 6
Remember that practice makes perfect. When you switch from a regular razor to an electric razor, it is going to seem a lot different. Think back to the first razor that you ever used and how long it took you to get the hang of it. Allowing yourself enough time to adjust to using an electric razor is the only way to find out for sure if you enjoy using it.
