How to Change the Dock From 3D to 2D in Mac OS X Leopard

The Classic 2D Look of Mac OS X TIger 10.4

You can change the look and feel of the Mac OS X Leopard Dock back to the 2D look of Mac 10.4 Tiger. In this lesson you will learn how to revert the Dock to its classic 2D Mac OS X Tiger look using the Terminal application.

Instructions

1. Mac OS X Terminal Application

   Navigate to “Application/Utilities/ Terminal” and double-click the Terminal application to launch it.

2. The Terminal Command to Select the Dock 2D Effect and Relaunch the Dock

   Type in an open terminal window the following command and hit return/enter on your keyboard:defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES killall Dock

3. The Dock in 2D

   Wait for the Dock to relaunch. It will revert to the 10.4 Tiger 2D Effect.

4. The 3D Leopard Dock Effect

   Return the Dock to 3D by typing the following command into the terminal and hitting return/enter on your keyboard:defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NOkillall Dock
