You can change the look and feel of the Mac OS X Leopard Dock back to the 2D look of Mac 10.4 Tiger. In this lesson you will learn how to revert the Dock to its classic 2D Mac OS X Tiger look using the Terminal application.

Instructions
  1. Step 1
    Mac OS X Terminal Application
    Mac OS X Terminal Application

    Navigate to “Application/Utilities/ Terminal” and double-click the Terminal application to launch it.

  2. Step 2
    The Terminal Command to Select the Dock 2D Effect and Relaunch the Dock

    Type in an open terminal window the following command and hit return/enter on your keyboard:defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES killall Dock

  3. Step 3
    The Dock in 2D
    The Dock in 2D

    Wait for the Dock to relaunch. It will revert to the 10.4 Tiger 2D Effect.

  4. Step 4

    Return the Dock to 3D by typing the following command into the terminal and hitting return/enter on your keyboard:defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean NOkillall Dock
