How to Choose Tarot Cards
Tarot cards can be either a fun toy for kids to mess around with, or a serious tool for people who are interested in the occult to get some spiritual guidance. The insight you can gain from Tarot cards is immense, whether you believe that you are getting a message from the universe or whether you simply use the cards to look at what you already know in an entirely new way.

1
Visit a metaphysical store or a bookstore that sells Tarot cards. If at all possible, you should buy Tarot cards in person rather than buying them online, since sets of cards can have a personality all their own.
-
2
Look at the decks that are available and see if any of them seem right to you. If you can't find a deck that seems perfect for you, then you should put the decks back on the shelf and look elsewhere. Choosing the right deck, especially for spiritual work, is very important.

Select a deck style, and pick up and hold each deck in that style. For example, many beginners default to the Rider-Waite Tarot. Hold each Rider-Waite deck and see if one of them speaks to you, particularly. They decks will all look the same, but they may have different energy. Purchase the one that feels right to you.
-
4
Lay the cards out when you get them home, and get to know them. Look at the pictures all spread out, perhaps even introduce yourself to them. You may want to cleanse your deck before you use it, or you can jump right in.

Tips & Warnings
Buy online as a last resort. For example, you may not be able to find rare decks in a typical bookstore, in which case you can seek them online, instead.
Don't settle for the wrong deck. You will regret it!
