Step 1
Get close to your opponent. If you can't reach out and touch him, you are too far away. You may have to trick your opponent into letting you get that close. Feint going high, then shoot down low.
-
Step 2
Lunge forward and grab your opponent's closest leg behind the knee. Do this with the arm that is between your opponent's legs. If you do it with the outside arm, you will be vulnerable to a shoulder bar takedown.
-
Step 3
Wrap both your hands behind her knee. Do not lace your fingers. Instead, place your hands palm-to-palm and perpendicular. Grab each hand with the other. This makes them more difficult to break apart.
-
Step 4
Lift your opponent's knee high. Pull straight up to force him on his toes. Keep lifting his knee throughout the high single-leg takedown.
-
Step 5
Head-butt your opponent's ribs. Act like a ram and push her with the top of your head. Drive forward with your legs, in the direction of your opponent's support leg. This forces your opponent to make a choice. If she remains facing you, she will be driven onto her heel and then lose balance and fall on her back. If she chooses to turn her back to you, your opponent will try to use her toes to keep her balance.
-
Step 6
Hook the support leg. If your opponent does not go down, trip him with your closest leg. He quite literally won't have a leg to stand on.
-
Step 7
Take your opponent down. When she hits the ground, you will be low on her body, holding one of her legs. Quickly move higher and gain ground control.
