How to Make a Paper Plate Moon
When studying astronomy and all the things found in the solar system, it is a good idea to make some models. As you make these models, you get a larger appreciation for them and how they operate. It is also a great way to close a lesson or unit study. This craft helps you to create a simple model of the moon.

1
Lay out two paper plates side-by-side. Flip the one on the left over and on top of the one on the right. This forms a sort of circular shape which you can view as your moon.
-
2
Staple the two paper plates together on all four side so that it holds together.
-
-
3
Paint the paper plates white. They are already white, but they will look better later when you need to add gray paint if the gray paint is contrast with the white paint.
-
4
Paint gray spots on the moon. Follow along a real picture of the moon. See if you can find an image of the moon or some pictures that will allow you to see all sides of the moon. Paint the gray spots on both sides of the moon.
-
5
Wait for the paint to dry.
