1
Choose your design. Greeting cards, magazines, wallpaper and books are great places to find your inspiration and materials. Cut out the designs that you want on the vase. Choose a container, a glass jar, empty jelly jar, old glass coffee cup, medicine bottle or plain glass vase.

2
Clean out the container and dry it well. Plan where you are going to place your cutout designs on the outside of the vase container.

3
Decoupage the vase. Dilute the glue and brush across the back of the cutout design with the large brush. Place the cutout design on the glass and press in place. Make sure the cutout is securely glued to the vase. Excess glue may squeeze out the sides; that is all right. Brush glue across the front of the cutout and let dry. The glue will dry clear. Apply another coat of glue when the first coat is dry. Let dry overnight.

4
Paint the inside of the vase with acrylic paint. This gives a nice background for the cutout design to stand out against. Let dry. You can repaint areas that aren't completely covered. Let dry overnight.

5
Place dried flowers, pencils, candles or other objects into the decoupage vase and display. Do not put water into the vase. This can loosen the paint.
