Gingerbread men cookies are always a welcome addition to the holidays. These gingerbread men are not edible, but this wreath is a fun family project to do together. Make different size wreaths by using different size cookie cutters. These make great gifts for grandparents, teachers, and friends.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 cup Cinnamon
  • 1 cup Applesauce
  • 1/4 cup Elmer's glue
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rolling pin
  • Wax paper
  • Gingerbread man cookie cutter
  • Red fabric ribbon - approximately 1 inch wide
  • Hot glue
  1. Step 1

Mix 1 cup cinnamon, 1 cup applesauce and 1/4 cup white glue in a mixing bowl. Stir to mix. Let sit for a half hour.

  2. Step 2

    Knead the dough until smooth.

  3. Step 3

Roll out the dough between two sheets of wax paper. Roll to about 1/4" thick. Remove top sheet of wax paper.

  4. Step 4

Cut out approximately 10-15 gingerbread men shapes.

  5. Step 5

Lay the gingerbread men in a circle with their arms overlapping.

  6. Step 6

Gently press the overlapping arms together until all the gingerbread men are stuck together.

  7. Step 7

Dry the gingerbread men wreath for approximately 5 days. Turn over daily to allow even drying time.

  8. Step 8

Weave the ribbon through the arms of the gingerbread men alternating from back to front. Hot glue the ends together. Cut off any excess ribbon.

  9. Step 9

Cut approximately a ten to twelve inch piece of ribbon.

  10. Step 10

Place the ten inch piece of ribbon around the middle of one gingerbread man, pulling the ends to the back.

  11. Step 11

Tie the loose ends of the ribbon into a bow.

  12. Step 12

Hang the wreath on a door.
