Will this be a children only or a community event for all ages with a focus on families? Will this require paid admission, a donation or food for a food bank? Follow the steps below and begin a worthy project that can be a fundraiser worth repeating for Halloween events to come.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold a meeting with your organization and discuss the type of fundraiser you will undertake. Vote on who will be in charge and have individuals sign up to complete the various tasks that need to be done. If your group needs a treasurer to be responsible for and in charge of the funds, select this person at this meeting.

    • 2

Set a date for a follow-up meeting and progress reports on the activities that will take place a month before Halloween. Set up a place to store accumulating decorations and supplies.

    • 3

You must seek publicity for a successful event. Pick your best committee communicator. Which member writes concise and appealing letters? Ask this person to write a press release for all newspapers and broadcast news for your local area. Be sure to include the name of the group spokesperson or event chairperson to speak with the media about the event when contacted.

    • 4

Make posters and fliers to distribute in the event area. Take fliers to the local schools so that each child has one to bring home. You can also take a batch of fliers to the local grocery store for distribution.

    • 5

Schedule committees to construct, decorate and complete event preparations the day before the event. Make sure the chairperson is coordinating everyone involved and checking to see that nothing is overlooked. Be prepared for missing volunteers, material problems and small emergencies.

    • 6

Assemble for last minute preparations which may include food preparation and set up. Make sure everyone is in place and that everything has been double checked for the perfect Halloween fundraiser. All volunteers should be on site at least one hour before the event unless otherwise scheduled.

    • 7

Be sure that you have security watching the parking lot and the interior of the building during the event.

Tips & Warnings
