1
Find a friend to play the Duck Soup Card Game against. The Duck Soup Card Game was designed for exactly two players, which makes it a great game to play when you can't get a larger group together to play other card games.
-
2
Shuffle a standard deck of playing cards after removing the jokers and deal 13 cards to each player. Place the remaining cards face down in the center of the table to form the draw pile.

3
Allow each player to look at his own cards, and then direct the non-dealer to lead to the first trick. The dealer then plays a card from his hand to complete the trick. The second player playing to a trick does not have to follow suit. The higher card wins the trick. If 2 cards are played that are the same rank, the player that started the trick must play a third card of the same rank. If he cannot do that, he loses the trick. If the player that led does play the third card of the same rank, then the other player must play the fourth card of the same rank. If he cannot do that, he then plays any card from his hand he wishes and he loses that trick.
-
4
Score the trick on the score sheet. Each trick that is won with 2 cards of the same suit in the trick is worth 2 points, as are tricks won with cards of the same rank. All other tricks are worth 1 point.
-
5
Collect a card from the draw pile. Each player now collects one card from the draw pile, or if each player played two cards to the previous trick, he or she each collects two cards. The player that won the previous trick leads the first card for the next trick.
-
6
End the first round when the last card from the draw pile is added to a player's hand. At this time, circle the total score for each player in Round 1.
-
7
Start Round 2, which is played exactly like Round 1 but with one difference. When all the cards have been played, Round 2 is over and a final score is computed for the hand of the Duck Soup Card Game.
-
8
Write down each player's score from Round 2 and multiply it by his score from Round 1. This is the number of points her wins in that hand of the Duck Soup Card Game. If one player scores more than 125 points in a single hand, he wins automatically. Otherwise, play additional hands of the Duck Soup Card Game until one player has 250 points to win the game.

Tips & Warnings
If a player has lass than 125 points as a total score when his opponent increases his own score to over 250 points, the losing player is declared to have two losses instead of one as a penalty for the lopsided loss.
Do not save your high cards all for Round 2 and accept a low score in the first round. Taking a low score in either round will limit your point total because your score from the other round is multiplied by that score. It's better to score 5 points in Round 1 and 6 points in Round 2 for 30 points than it is to score 3 points in Round 1 and 9 points in Round 2 for a score of 27 points.
