Purchase a binder with rings at a retailer such as Wal-Mart or Kmart. This will hold your current writing samples.

    • 2

Take all of the writing samples that you plan on using for your portfolio and have them laminated or buy plastic sheet protectors to place them in. Be sure the sheet protectors have holes to put them into the binder.

Create a cover sheet and a table of contents that displays the titles and a small description of your samples. Be sure to include a writing resume in your portfolio, as well. If you have have any of your writing published online, create a page of links that show where your work can be found.

Great post. I know about the online portfolio, but having a hardcopy is just a good, too.
