In wrestling, after each period, wrestlers assume the referee's position, with one wrestler on his hands and knees, and the other behind him in a dominant position. The bottom wrestler's task is to escape to a neutral position, and the top wrestler's goal is to break the bottom wrestler down to his stomach, and then work moves to turn him to his back. The spiral bust is a technique for use from the top position to break the bottom man down. Perform this strategic move with these steps.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Assume the referee's position. Your partner should be on his hands and knees, and you should pick one side to "cover," with one of your hands on his elbow, and the other on his belly.

  2. Step 2

When the referee starts the action, move the hand that is on your partner's elbow under his armpit, and cup his upper arm.

  3. Step 3

Move the hand that started on your partner's belly to the inner part of the his thigh.

  4. Step 4

Walk around your partner toward the side that you covered. This is the "spiral" in the spiral bust, which will pry his thighs apart and bend his torso. This will cause the arm that you have cupped to bend, putting your opponents wrist in reach.

  5. Step 5

When your opponent's wrist is in reach, grab it and pull it down and under him. This will take away his support and force him to flatten out.

Tips & Warnings
  • The spiral bust is less common than the lace or chop bust, but can be executed quickly because it does not require you to move your hands very far. It can be useful to slow down an explosive opponent.
