Instructions

    • 1

Do nothing during the first year after planting allowing the plant to grow and bush out. Do remove any dead branches or shoots.

    • 2

Prune back the top 6 inches of growth after the lavender finishes blooming in the autumn, depending on where you live.

    • 3

Prune the plant back each year. Do not cut below where there is green foliage back into the “older” wood.

    • 4

Prune to rejuvenate older bushes, which tend to develop a woody base by pruning the foliage back by approximately 1/3 in the spring. This will result in more bushy foliage.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid pruning into older wood if you see there is no new growth on it. Doing so can prevent that branch from producing any future growth.

  • Clip stalks of blooming lavender and hang them upside drown in a cool dark area to dry. These can then be placed in your closets or made into sachets to bring the delicate scent of lavender into your home.
