How to Create Custom Memo Templates in Microsoft Word 2003
Office workers and telecommuters have become accustomed to the many useful features that they rely upon in word processing applications like Word 2003. And for those who do not have the time to design complex documents, this program offers easy-to-use wizards that enable nearly anybody with a simple means for creating such document templates in a rather short period of time. From professional legal pleadings to work memos, there is a template creation wizard for nearly every type of document that one can use in Word.

Open the memo template creation wizard. Click on the “File” tab on the command bar and select “New.” In the window that opens to the right, select “On My Computer.” Click on the “Memos” tab and then click on the “Memo Wizard” icon. Once the memo wizard opens, click “Next” to continue.

Choose the style. Select from the three available styles by clicking on the corresponding radial button. When finished click “Next."

Label the title. Click the radial button labeled “Yes Use This Title” and enter the desired title text into the “Title” field. Click “Next” to proceed.

Enter in the heading fields. Check the boxes of the fields that you wish to be included in the memo, such as date, and then enter the desired text into the text portion of those fields. Click “Next” to continue.

Select the recipient. Enter the recipients’ emails in the “Recipients” fields and the carbon copy emails into the “CC” fields. Click “Next” to continue.

Enter in the closing fields. Check the boxes of the closing fields that you would like to be included in the memo and enter the desired text into their corresponding fields. Click “Next” to proceed.

Create the header and the footer. Check the boxes in the header and footer field of text that you would like included in each field. Click “Next” when finished.

Create the template. Click “Finished” to create your new memo template.

Save your new memo template. Click on “File” and then on “Save As” and enter the desired file name. Browse to the location you wish to save the file in. Click “Save” to save your new template.

Tips & Warnings
This feature is great for making customized memo templates that you can repeatedly use.
Make certain to save the memo as a new file so you do not overwrite the existing memo template.
