How to Dress Like Snow White for Halloween
Snow White is one of the most notable Disney icons. With her kindness to creatures, her flowing dress, and short black bob, she has the delicate and feminine quality that has led her to become one of Disney’s most deserving princesses. This year, consider dressing up like Snow White for Halloween. The costume is great for women of all ages, and it can even be customized depending on how straight-laced or revealing you want the costume to be. Just avoid anyone offering you apples.
Things You'll Need
- 1/4 yard blue satin fabric
- 1 1/2 yards of yellow satin fabric (depending on desired length)
- Blue sleeveless shirt
- 1 to 2 yards of 3/8-inch red ribbon
- 1 red bow
- 14-inch yellow zipper
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Straight pins
- 1 package of elastic band material
Instructions
-
Skirt
-
1
Start by measuring the length around your waist.
-
2
Fold the yellow fabric in half. From the fold of the fabric, trace out the shape of the skirt of the dress according to the measurements of your waist. Because the fabric is doubled over, you will cut your waist measurement in half. The length of your skirt will be determined by how conservative or risqué you want the costume to be. Leave about 1 inch of extra length for the hems.

-
3
Cut out the skirt. Unfold it and wrap around your waist to be sure it will fit when sewn shut.
-
4
Sew the skirt closed halfway up before installing the zipper using your sewing machine. The zipper will make it easier for you to put on and remove the skirt.
-
5
Add a hem along the top and bottom of the skirt.
Bodice
-
6
Measure the length around your upper arm.
-
7
Draw 2 rectangles onto the blue fabric that are double the length of the measurements from the previous step.
-
8
Gather the fabric along the length of the top and bottom of the rectangles and straight pin it in place.
-
9
Sew along the pinned edges before removing pins.
-
10
Attach the elastic bands to the rectangles with a sewing machine.
-
11
Sew the sides of the rectangles together into a cylinder to create puffed sleeves.
-
12
Sew one sleeve to either side of the shirt. The elastic bands will allow you to slide your puffed sleeves up and down your arm to create the desired amount of puffiness.
Final Touches
-
13
Sew a red bow to the center of a strip of red ribbon. This ribbon will be your headband.
-
14
Sew accent strips of red material along the sleeves and bodice as desired.
-
15
Wear red or black high heeled shoes.

Tips & Warnings
Using a pre-made blue sleeveless shirt will be simpler than creating a bodice, but if you are comfortable with making your own, feel free to customize it as desired.
If your hair is not short and dark, you may want to wear a wig.
