After washing your face and patting dry, use an oil-free moisturizer on your entire face. Be sure that the moisturizer is oil-free because otherwise you may make yourself vulnerable for more breakouts. By keeping your skin moisturized, it is much easier to apply makeup, since it will be less likely to clump up.

Once your face is fully moisturized, take out a cover stick,or concealer stick and dab small amounts onto the pimple or blemish. Make certain that the blemish stick is slightly lighter or equal to your skin tone. Any darker tones will draw more attention to your imperfection rather than covering it up. Once the makeup is dabbed on the blemish, use your finger to even it out and blend the edges into your skin, so here is not an obvious spot on your face.

Once the blemishes are covered by the concealer, use foundation as usual. This will add another layer, however light, and provide more coverage for your face. Foundations can be applied with your fingers, but this is not the most efficient practice. Using sponges or airbrushing foundation have better results and look more natural after application.

When foundation has been applied, it is time for finishing powder. Using a large makeup brush, dust the powder onto your skin so that the concealer and foundation are sealed in. The powder will also reduce shine. You can either use powder that matches, or is slightly lighter than your skin tone or use a bronzer.
