If your purse is spilling over with cosmetics you forgot you even owned or had in there, it's time for a touch-up bag makeover. Return the items you find to their rightful spot in your makeup kit, or simply toss them in the garbage. Makeup that smells funky and looks odd especially needs to be thrown out. To prevent perfectly good makeup from going to waste in the future, take only what you need and leave the rest at home. As for the essentials, here are some tips to help lighten your load.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small pouch or bag
  • Pressed powder or oil-blotting sheets
  • Small makeup palette
  • Cosmetic wedge or mini makeup brushes
  • Moist towelettes or baby wipes
  1. Step 1

Invest in a small pouch or bag that fits in your purse. You may want to buy the bag after you have already put together your touch-up essentials just to make sure you have the right size. On the other hand, if you think you are likely to bring more than what you need, pick out a bag first and take along only the touch-up items that can effortlessly fit inside. Having a bag or pouch separate from your purse is a worthwhile move, because you can haul it with you even if you switch purses.

  2. Step 2

Remember to pack the item that is your best bet for diminishing shine. If you have combination skin, you could keep a pressed powder compact in your touch-up bag. If your face is very oily, consider powderless blotting papers.

  3. Step 3

Purchase a small makeup palette filled with the items you use on a regular basis. There are those that come with concealer, translucent powder, a few shades of blush and even eyeshadow. This saves you space for the other items you must have in your touch-up pouch.

  4. Step 4

Figure out what is most convenient for you to use to adjust, correct and blend any flaws in your makeup. You might find that your makeup has a good level of cohesion, in which case all you need is a cosmetic wedge. If not, take along the mini brushes that you consider absolutely essential. There is no need to lug around the full-size version of your makeup brushes when you go out. A mini fluffy brush can double as a powder and blush brush. For eye makeup, a small eyeshadow brush is all you need in case your eye makeup begins to fade. In case you prefer to conceal with a brush instead of your finger, you can also bring a mini concealer brush with you.

  5. Step 5

Freshen up with moist towelettes or makeup wipes. If it is your habit to reapply anything other than lipstick later in the day, give yourself a cleaner base by wiping away the makeup on that area. For instance, instead of building on top of the blush that you have had on for hours, wipe it off. Then you can proceed with applying pressed powder foundation to the area followed by a new layer of blush. The color will appear cleaner and you will feel refreshed. This is particularly ideal for ladies who go out after work instead of coming straight home.
