Instructions
-
-
1
Decide what design you want, as well as what color, accents, fabric and size.
-
2
Surf on over to the Etsy site. Sign up for an account before you begin, by clicking the "Register" button in the upper right-hand corner.
-
-
3
Click on the "Alchemy" button up top. This will lead you to a type of message board of custom creations.
-
4
Familiarize yourself with the board and how it works. You will see a variety of requests, as well as a listing of how many responses each request has received. See how each member writes and what they describe, so you will know what to say in your own posting.
-
5
When you feel comfortable, press the "Add New Request" button and begin your posting.
-
6
Fill in each field listed on the form. Make sure you are specific in your request to get the best responses. When it looks the way you want, preview and verify the listing. Your listing will now appear at the top of the searchable message board for designers to respond to.
-
7
Check your email account for responses to your posting. Seamstresses will respond to your ad with descriptions of their work and ideas for your projects. Look at each person's Etsy store or portfolio to see their work.
-
8
Decide which designer's bid you like the best based on their design history and monetary bid. When you're sure, confirm the bid by clicking the "Confirm Bid" button in that designer's original email or in your Etsy account.
-
9
Follow up with payment, according to the designer's or your request. Keep in correspondence with the designer throughout the project.
-
10
Give the designer good feedback after receiving your new clothing if he has fulfilled all of your requests.

Tips & Warnings
Be creative! Many designers on Etsy have seen tons of different ideas, so there's no reason not to take a picture and add or subtract to it.
Just like on eBay, only buy from reliable sources, such as creators with positive feedback and a reliable history.
