How to Dress Like the Mummy for Halloween

The mummy is a classic monster that has been the villain in movies for decades. Because of this, he has become an important part of horror movie history. You can become a mummy this Halloween with a few rolls of gauze and some very basic sewing abilities. This costume is perfect for anyone, regardless of age or gender. Practice walking stiffly in front of the mirror to complete the look.

Things You'll Need

• Rolls of gauze
• Sewing machine
• Pants and long sleeved shirt
• Green and brown acrylic paint
• Black eye makeup
• White makeup

Instructions

1. Wrap rolls of gauze around your pants and shirt.

2. Sew this gauze into place. You can use safety pins if you are not comfortable using a sewing machine, but the machine will help hold it into place better.

3. Mix up the brown and green paint. This will create an icky moldy color. Paint splotches of paint around the outfit as desired.

4. Apply black eye makeup around your eyes so your eyes look sunken in.

5. Wrap more gauze around your face, only leaving small openings for your eyes, ears, mouth, and nose.

6. Cover all exposed skin (like hands, ears, around the mouth, and the under part of your nose) with white make up.

7. Wrap gauze around your bare hands or sew onto gloves to cover your hands.

Tips & Warnings

• It doesn’t matter what color pants and shirt you attach the gauze to, but if you use brown garments you will look extra moldy if the brown underneath pokes through.

• This costume is done so you will be able to take it on and off somewhat easily. If this is not important to you, feel free to wrap yourself with gauze right before you go out.
