How to Apply for a Washington Mutual Credit Card

Applying for a Washington Mutual (WaMu) credit card is a moderately easy process. However, you will need to bank with them in order to obtain one. You can get a card by going online to the WaMu website.

Go to You will need to set up an account through their website to apply for a credit card. Click on the “Sign up now” link. Under the “Personal Info” section, enter your first/last name, date of birth and email address. Choose the type of credit card account you want (business or personal) and how you would like to identify yourself when you log in (account number or ATM/Debit card). Now, click the “Continue” button.

Create your username and password. The username can be anything you want, but the password must have at least eight characters with a minimum of one numeric character. Click the “Continue” button.

Verify your information. Make sure everything you entered is correct. If not, you can modify it by clicking on the “Modify” button. Next, read the “Electronic Notice and Consent” disclosure, and click on the checkbox below it to accept it. Click the “Submit” button.

Apply for a Washington Mutual (WaMu) credit card. Click on the “Apply for a new account” link. On this screen you will have many choices for different types of accounts. For the credit card, click the “WaMu Platinum MasterCard” link.

Click on the “Find My Offer” link. This will take you to a screen where you can apply for a Washington Mutual credit card. Fill out the form with your personal information, including your name, address, home phone, social security number, date of birth, current income and employment status. You will also have the option to transfer balances from other credit cards. After this is complete, click the “Confirm” button. In about a minute, you will get a response on whether or not your credit application was accepted. It will then let you know the amount of credit that is available to you. If you accept their offer, the card will be mailed to you in a few weeks.
