Fleas are a nuisance when they come into your home. They are often difficult to get rid of, but this natural method of using salt is very effective. The salt dries out the adult flea, larvae and eggs which ensures that they do not live in your carpets any longer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Table salt
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Vacuum cleaner bags
  1. Step 1

Sprinkle salt liberally on the carpet in the rooms where you have noticed fleas. Leave the salt on the carpet overnight, if possible.

  2. Step 2

    Vacuum the carpet thoroughly.

  3. Step 3

Remove the vacuum cleaner bag and throw it out immediately. You don't want any live fleas that may have been vacuumed up to remain in your home.

  4. Step 4

Repeat the above steps for a minimum of three days. You may want to repeat the process again after a week to ensure that all eggs and larvae are removed from your home.

Tips & Warnings
  • For particularly bad infestations, combine 3 parts Borax with 1 part salt and sprinkle on the carpets. Vacuum as instructed above.
  • Do not let your pets into the rooms when the salt is on the carpets because they may try to eat the salt.
