How to Clean Plastic Deck Chairs
Plastic deck chairs are a popular choice for many because they hold up to pressure and strain without breaking and they’re fairly inexpensive. The only problem some might find is keeping the furniture clean, especially after prolonged use. One harsh winter or one simple summer can cause a lot of dirt to build up. As long as you have a good cleaner and a garden hose available though, you can easily clean plastic deck chairs.

1
Spray a liberal amount of cleaner on your plastic deck chairs. One of the best cleaners on the market is Simple Green, though you can use your favorite. You’ll want a strong cleaner that can cut through grease, which is similar to the mold that may have developed on your furniture.
-
2
Rinse off the furniture with a garden hose, making sure to remove all traces of the cleaner. Examine the plastic furniture for any dirt or debris. If you see any spots where there’s a large amount of gunk, you’ll want to use more cleaner.

3
Apply another coat of cleaner and use a scrub brush to get the caked on dirt off the surface. This step will ensure that you get all the dirt off the furniture. You may need to flip the furniture over to get the caked on dirt underneath.

4
Use your garden hose to remove all traces of the cleaner. A spray nozzle will help get more pressure, which can get through any dirt that might still remain. Make sure you get all the cleaner off before you let it dry.

Let sit in the sun for a few hours to dry. Left out in the sun, the furniture will dry in a few hours or you can dry it off yourself with old towels. Once the furniture is dry, you’ll be ready to put them in storage or use them for the rest of the season.

Tips & Warnings
If you notice any scratches or dings or if you have a large amount of stains on your plastic patio furniture, you can paint over it. Home improvement stores now stock spray paint made especially for plastic furniture. In one day you can make your old furniture look brand new again.
Avoid using a harsh scrub brush on your plastic furniture as this can cause scratches on the surface. Instead use a brush made from soft hair or use a cloth.
