Instructions

    • 1

Close your mini blinds so that they lay flat on one side and use a hose attachment and your vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust and debris as you can.

    • 2

Switch the mini blinds so that you can get the other side of the blinds. Once again use the hose attachment and vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust and dirt as possible.

    • 3

Mix together one part ammonia and one part warm water in your bathtub. Soak the blinds in the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes or longer if they’re particularly dirty.

    • 4

Drain the water from the tub and rinse off the blinds with clean water. Either run the blinds under the faucet in your bathtub or turn the shower on full blast for several minutes. Examine the blinds for any signs of dust or dirt. You may need to soak them again or scrub the blinds with another mixture of ammonia and water with a scrub brush.

    • 5

Lay your mini blinds over the side of the shower curtain rod and let them air dry. If you’re rushed for time, dry them with a cloth towel or paper towels.

Tips & Warnings

  • When the weather is warm outside, you can clean your plastic blinds outside with a garden hose and bucket. Once they’re clean you can lay them flat to dry or put them on the clothesline.

  • If your plastic mini blinds are particularly dirty you may need to let them soak in the ammonia and water mixture for 30 minutes or more. Less soaking is required if you clean them regularly.
