Do you remember making paper snowflakes in elementary school? It was so exciting cutting wildly into folder paper, then unfolding it to discover what amazing snowflake you had created. A snowflake bookmark is just as exciting, but with a new twist. You'll use a base bookmark and add your own snowflakes to it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Card stock/poster board
  • White paper or tissue paper
  • Ruler
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Newspaper
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam brush or small paint brush
  • Glitter (optional)
  • Laminating pouches (optional)
  1. Step 1

Cut the card stock or poster board to 6 inches by 2 inches to create a base for your bookmark.

  2. Step 2

Cut snowflakes out of contrasting paper with either a snowflake punch or by hand. By hand: fold a small square in half twice, then trim designs in between to two folded sides, then open.

  3. Step 3

Spread the newspaper to protect your work area from Mod Podge.

  4. Step 4

Arrange the snowflakes into the approximate order you'd like them on your bookmark.

  5. Step 5

Coat the base bookmark with a thin layer of Mod Podge, then stick the snowflakes to it. If you created snowflakes using tissue paper, try overlapping them to created a pretty look.

  6. Step 6

Paint a layer of Mod Podge over the whole surface of the bookmark, and then apply glitter if you like. If you use glitter, you may want to apply a third layer of Mod Podge over it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Instead of a top coat of Mod Podge, you can use a laminating pouch to give your bookmark a more professional look. Laminating pouches are also good for keeping glitter from flaking off.
  • You can use a snowflake shaped craft punch to create small snowflakes for your bookmark.
