Have a Well Stocked Bar at Home

From daiquiris to margaritas, cognacs to brandies, you enjoy a good cocktail. You entertain often, and wish for your guests to have a varied selection of alcohol to enjoy. This article will show you how to have everything you need in your home bar. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase some bar glasses. You need a basic 10- or 12-ounce glass for mixed drinks like rum and coke. Larger drinks, such as daiquiris, use a 16-ounce glass. Obtain some shot glasses and beer mugs. Get wine glasses and champagne glasses. Cognacs and brandy call for a brandy snifter.

    • 2

Keep bar fruit on hand at all times. Have a jar of maraschino cherries, as well as an orange, a lime and a lemon. If you want to be creative, have pineapple slices or some other exotic fruit to put in drinks.

    • 3

Keep sodas and juices in the refrigerator. Have Coke or Pepsi and a diet soda, as well as tonic water, club soda and Sprite or ginger ale. Essential juices include orange, pineapple and cranberry juice.

    • 4

Have a basic supply of beers. Get a light beer, a domestic beer, a dark beer and an imported beer.

    • 5

Get some standard wines. Chardonnays, zinfandels, and merlots will do the trick. This gives you one white, one rose and one red wine. Don't refrigerate the red wine.

    • 6

Obtain basic liquors. Purchase rum, gin, vodka, whisky, tequila, triple sec and bourbon. Add some liqueurs like peach schnapps, melon and raspberry liqueurs to make a sex on the beach drink. Select a cognac and a brandy.

    • 7

Keep basic bartending supplies around. You need a mixing tin, a strainer and a blender for frozen drinks. Have some daiquiri mix and margarita mix.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure to have ice in your freezer to put in your drinks and to use to make frozen daiquiris.

  • Restock your items as they get low. When you're down to a shot or two of vodka, get another bottle. If you only have two beers left, buy some more. Don't wait until you run out completely.
