How to Change Windshield Wipers on a Pontiac Vibe

Windshield wipers are an essential part of any vehicle, including the Pontiac Vibe. Windshield wipers keep rain, bugs and other foreign objects off of your windshield so that you can see the road and travel safely. Windshield wipers are normally made out of rubber and will wear out over time. You need to replace your wiper blades when they stop cleaning your windshield effectively. Changing the blades on your Pontiac Vibe can be done quickly with just a few items.

• Flat head screwdriver

Instructions

1. Read through the manual at the auto parts store to determine which size and type of wiper blades your vehicle takes. The manual should break down parts by vehicle year and type, so match your information to the required wiper size.

2. Examine your existing windshield wiper to decide what type of attachment the blade takes. Most blades come with a few different types of attachments to make replacing them easier. Your Pontiac Vibe should use a pressure clip attachment to mount your blades, so select this type from the package.

3. Pull the windshield wiper arm away from the windshield of your Vibe. The wiper blade arm will come up from the windshield and sit in the air at an angle.

4. Take the existing wiper blade off of the arm. The blade should have an attachment that you can remove easily with the screwdriver. Insert the flat end of your screwdriver into the wiper blade and depress the little tab inside. Loosening this tab should allow the blade to come right off.

5. Replace the old wiper blade with the new blade. The new wiper blade should slide onto the arm and attach firmly with the new attachment.

6. Push the wiper arms back down onto the windshield and turn the wipers on to make sure the blades are securely attached. If they are loose, push them back down firmly and make sure the attachments are tight.
