How to Put Bindings on a Forum Recon Snowboard
Mounting bindings on your Forum Recon snowboard requires a few basic steps that can be done with simple tools. You can usually mount them within a few minutes. The process may need some fine-tuning once you begin riding, but bindings can be easily adjusted.

1
Determine your stance. Regular or goofy footed are your options. Regular means you ride with your right foot in front, and goofy means you ride with your left foot in front. If you have ever ridden before, recall which foot you put first on the board. If you have no idea, stand with your feet together and have someone push you gently from behind. The foot that you land on is the one that should be in front.

2
Determine your stance width. Generally speaking, width is equal to or slightly wider than your shoulders. However, it is really about your comfort. A wider stance gives enhanced stability but less turning mobility, while a narrower stance provides for enhanced, quicker turning but less stability. To get a better idea, pretend that you are snowboarding and try different leg widths until you feel most comfortable. Stand right on the board or measure the width between your legs with a tape measure or simple visual measurement.

3
Determine the centering of your bindings. In general, centering the bindings so that they are equidistant from the front and back is the easiest and most versatile option. Consider moving the bindings more toward the back if you intend to ride a lot of deep powder.

4
Make sure the board is clean where the bindings will be mounted.

5
With stance direction, width and centering in mind, place the bindings on the board where you intend to mount them. Figure out the stance angle. Use a boot in each binding, to ensure that the toe is not hanging over the edge of the board and is centered. Use greater stance angle to prevent toe drag. Based on experience, determine what angle you would like each binding. If you are unsure, use a 15-degree or less forward angle in the front and a 10-degree or less forward angle in back. You can always adjust later, after you have tested the placement.

6
Use the mounting plate, screws and washers included with your binding to mount each binding to the snowboard. The Forum Recon uses traditional four-screw mounting. Use Loctite on each screw to ensure the tightest fit.

7
Once mounted, try standing in the bindings to double-check that the stance width and angle feels comfortable. If not, adjust as needed. You may also require a few test runs when you first use the board to be sure that it works for you.

Tips & Warnings
Always be sure that bindings are tightly mounted before riding. If they move or have any loose screws, be sure to tighten before taking a run.
