Instructions

    • 1

Trim the card stock or poster board down to 6 inches by 2 inches. You may adjust the size to your needs.

    • 2

Spread out newspaper on your work surface to protect it. Set your bookmark on top.

    • 3

Arrange your collage pieces on the table in the way you'd like them to be on your bookmark. If you're using newspaper bits, tear them into small pieces--about the size of your thumb nail.

    • 4

Coat the one side of the bookmark in a thin layer of Mod Podge using the foam brush or paintbrush.

    • 5

Lay collage pieces on the bookmark. Overlap and don't worry if they hang off the edges; you can trim it later.

    • 6

Flip over and cover the other side, then trim any excess sticking out around the edges.

    • 7

Personalize the bookmark further, if you wish, by drawing designs, writing a name or quote, or tracing something onto it using markers or colored pencils. Make sure the paper is completely dry before trying to draw on it.

    • 8

Finish your bookmark by applying a thin top coat of Mod Podge. Allow the first side to dry before flipping it over to coat the other side.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be careful not to pull up the edges of your collage pieces when drawing.

  • Markers may bleed when coated with Mod Podge. If yours start to do so, quickly put a thin coat over the design and allow it to dry completely before adding a second coat.
