Step 1
Get fresh, youthful skin by exfoliating, keeping yourself hydrated and using the moisturizer that matches your skin type. Dot on and blend an oil-free makeup primer on clean skin prior to makeup application. Smooth on a light- to medium-coverage foundation all over your face, blending with a makeup sponge. Do not use a full-coverage foundation, as you want your own skin to show through the makeup for a more natural look. For blemishes, you can use a stiff concealer brush to stipple on a camouflage product that matches the color of your face. With a powder puff, pat translucent powder over concealed blemishes to set makeup.
-
Step 2
Groom and maintain eyebrows, but do not over-pluck them. Thinner brows can age you, so tweeze strays and trim too-long hairs, but keep your natural brow shape. Clean brows on the fuller side look polished but young. When defining brows, use a pencil or powder slightly lighter than your own if you have dark hair, and only slightly darker if you are blond. Fill in the entire brow with feather-soft motions to simulate the appearance of tiny hairs. Do not overemphasize or stylize brow shape.
-
Step 3
Brighten your eyes with an eyeshadow in a sparkly or metallic finish. Keep it classy by applying the color from lash line to just slightly past the crease. Avoid overdosing on sheen by polishing brow bones with a matte—not shimmer—flesh-tone eyeshadow. Fade away any hard edges in your application with an eyeshadow blending brush. You don't need to create a thick line to define your eyes. On both top and bottom lash lines, use a highly pigmented creamy pencil in black or dark brown to work the color in between each lash. The end result should simply be lash lines that appear thicker instead of an evident line around the eye.
-
Step 4
Open up your eyes with the help of an eyelash curler. Plump up lashes with a thickening mascara in black or dark brown. Dislodge any clumps with the tip of your mascara wand. If you are attending a nighttime event, you may even want to use individual lash clusters on upper lash lines to add glamour to your look. Pat highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes to bring light to the area.
-
Step 5
Bring your complexion to life by applying blush on the apples of your cheeks. Select a shade that matches your natural flush. Do not use contouring, as it can make you appear older. With your sponge, buff away any uneven color as well as streaky lines. On the tops of your cheekbones, pat on highlighter and smooth away visible edges.
-
Step 6
Moisturize lips for a plump appearance free from flakes and dryness. Don't line lips, but do fill them in with a nude lip pencil to create a base for your lip makeup. On the center of both top and bottom lips, dab on a pink or peachy pink lip gloss. Avoid deeper colors like dark red and brown. Blend outwards with an applicator. Include the inner corners of your mouth for a professional finish.
