The '90s hold a special place in many people's hearts. It's hard to say whether it was the grunge music, the Chuck Taylors or shows like "Saved by the Bell" that made that decade so unforgettable. Regardless, it's a time period that is well worth celebrating.

• '90s-inspired clothing
• DVD or video of '90s sitcom
• '90s music

Instructions

1. List the people you would like to invite and decide whether you want to have a small get-together or a real rager. Pick a location that can accommodate the number of invited guests.

2. Send out invitations and manage the party plans with a website such as Facebook or Evite. You'll be able to gauge how many people will show up so that you can provide the right amount of food and beverages. Make the invitation '90s-themed with pictures of Will Smith (from his "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" days), Kurt Cobain and A.C. Slater of "Saved by the Bell." Make the background a bright, bold color.

3. Encourage all attendees to dress in the best (or worst) of '90s fashion. Remind them of baby-doll dresses, flannel shirts, Dr. Martens and Chuck Taylors. Do they still have high-waisted jeans or jean jackets lying around? They should wear them. Enthusiasm is the key to guaranteeing everyone's participation.

4. Hire a DJ or load your iPod with all your favorite '90s tunes, from Pearl Jam and Snoop Dogg to Sublime and the Counting Crows. Music is the soul of the party, so be sure you spend a good amount of time preparing it.

5. Rent or purchase your favorite '90s sitcom and play it in the background, either with the volume on or off. Try "90210," "Saved by the Bell," "Family Matters" or "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air."
