How to Shop for DVDs on Black Friday

Black Friday is unofficially referred to as the holiday between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Shoppers flock to stores hoping to get the best bargains for the holidays and even since its debut in 1997, DVDs have been a top item on many Black Friday shopping lists. If you are specifically looking for DVDs on Black Friday, you cannot just stroll into any store and expect a great bargain, you have to plan ahead and come up with a successful strategy.

1. Decide if DVDs are your main focus. If they are not, then you will select different and more general stores. Otherwise, you can shop at DVD-focused stores like F.Y.E and Best Buy.

2. Look at the Black Friday sale ads. Some websites have scans of advertisements early so you can plan ahead of time, but otherwise, purchase a newspaper the day before Thanksgiving to see the deals.

3. Check out websites of retailers that you are interested at shopping at. Many times the Black Friday sales will expand to their digital counterpart so you can order items online and save time to visit other stores.

4. Focus on expensive DVDs like boxed sets and television season sets. This is where you will find the best deals and you could even purchase a few sets you do not like and give them as gifts or sell them later for a higher price.

5. Learn the layouts of the stores you plan to visit. Many of the stores will have the sale DVDs on display, but there will be extra copies lingering in the sections that they belong in. Move past the crowds and head right toward what you are looking for.

6. Wait on the bargains for recently released titles--their retail price will drop quickly anyway, so you may lose out on a good deal in a few months if you choose to purchase them now.
