- Green construction paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Tape
- Glue
- Glitter glue
- Colored markers
- Tin foil

Step 1
Trace a child’s hand on sheets of green construction paper. The average hand print paper Christmas tree will require 50 to 60 hand prints, so trace around 20 at a time and take breaks to avoid hand aches.

Step 2
Cut out all of the hands. The quickest way to do this is by tracing 20 hands, cutting them out, and tracing 20 more. Get multiple pairs of scissors to make this process faster.

Step 3
Line up ten hand print cutouts across so that the fingers are pointing down. It is OK if the hands overlap slightly. Place small pieces of Scotch tape over the tops of the hands so that they are connected.

Step 4
Pick up the row of connected hands and flip it over. This is the bottom row of the Christmas tree. Dab nine spots of glue on the bottom of the palms in the first row.

Overlay nine hand print cutouts onto the glue so that the hands overlap the first row, but are still higher. Basically, each row should only go up to the knuckle of the hand. Center the row so the tree remains even.

Continue this process using one less hand print on each additional row. Remember to keep each row centered so that the tree remains even. Finish when there is only one lone handprint at the top of the tree.

Cut a star out of the remaining construction paper. Wrap the star tightly in tinfoil and seal it with a small piece of Scotch tape. Glue the star to the top of the tree.

Step 8
Spread glitter all over the tree to add decorations. Use colored markers to decorate the rest of the tree and draw on ornaments.

Hang the tree by the ceiling using string or attach it directly to a wall.
