A country themed wedding is one that everyone can enjoy. Untraditional weddings are typically the ones that everyone remembers well beyond the wedding. For those into the country theme, a country themed wedding seems a logical choice for a different, untraditional wedding. Country music, cowboy paraphanalia and barbeque are a good time, even if you are not the boot stompin' afficiando. Country themed wedding ideas are endless, but here are the steps to take you through the planning process.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Planning notebook
  • Planning calendar
  1. Step 1

Choose a location, such as a farm, outdoor park or even nice, clean barn. An outdoor wedding will add a lot of flavor for a country themed wedding, if weather permits in your area. Check around also for a large, clean barn for rent. Weddings have been held in barns before, and they make for a good, line dancing floor. Tables and chairs can be set up, and there should be plenty of room if you find a big enough barn.

  2. Step 2

Plan on wedding attire. The bride can still wear a wedding gown, but how about adding a cowboy hat and boots? Invite the guests to dress in country themed attire as well. If you are okay with the more casual look, put bridesmaids and groomsmen in jeans, a nice button down country shirt, cowboy boots and hats. Put white hats on the girls, and black hats on the guys.

  3. Step 3

Choose your wedding flowers. Wildflowers are perfect for outdoor or country themed weddings. Daisies are always a big hit, and they are casual enough to go with the theme.

  4. Step 4

Choose your music. Consider a live country band. If a country band cannot be found, a disc jockey will work well also. Be sure to have lots of country music for line dancing. If you need to, rent a portable dance floor for foot-stompin'. If you feel many of your guests won't know how to line dance, try hiring someone to teach guests early in the evening. A lot of people don't know the steps, but have always wanted to learn.

  5. Step 5

Plan your menu. Country themed food may include barbeque, baked beans and potato salad. You might also be able to get away with hamburgers and hot dogs. For an interesting touch, set up the food on an open hay wagon.

  6. Step 6

Add extra touches. Little things such as a bonfire at night will provide a night to remember for all guests. Other little touches might be wedding favors in the country theme, such as little hats or boots filled with candy, or cowboy hat candle holders.
