Mineral makeup has become popular in recent years because it doesn't clog your pores like creme based and liquid makeup and it's made from natural ingredients. Some people have criticized that mineral powder foundations fail to provide complete coverage. This is not true. It's all about how you apply the makeup.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Kabuki brush
  • Mineral foundation makeup
  • Mirror
  • Short flat-edged brush
  • Matte finishing powder
  • Large dusting brush
  • Moisturizer
  1. Step 1

Apply your daily moisturizer to you skin. Make sure to cover all of your face and neck. Allow the moisturizer to absorb into the skin and dry. This typically takes 10 minutes.

  2. Step 2

Take your container of mineral powder foundation and gently shake it. This shaking will bring more powder to the surface through the holes. Dab a short flat-edged brush in the powder. Wipe off excess by pulling it up along the edge of the container. In the inside of the lid, dab the brush back and forth once to remove even more excess powder.

  3. Step 3

Stand in front of a mirror and in short smooth strokes, cover any redness or problem areas. Don't worry about complete coverage of the areas yet, just try to smooth out the problems so they are less noticeable.

  4. Step 4

Spin the kabuki brush in the container of powder. Tap the brush on the edge of the container to shake off excess. Then swirl the brush in the lid to remove even more. Start at the outer edges of your face. Use a short buffing stroke and buff the powder into your skin. Do not use long strokes or a dusting technique. Get more powder on your brush and continue to buff inward on your face until your entire face is covered.

  5. Step 5

Go back to the short flat-edged brush and using the same technique as in Step 2, cover any still noticeable problem areas. Use a large dusting brush to dust finishing matte powder all over to help the mineral powder foundation stay in place.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep makeup as minimal as possible around the T-zone of the face where shine occurs.
  • Don't rub your face during the day; the powder will rub off just like liquid or creme makeup.
