Sometimes it can be a difficult to find the right Halloween costume for your child. A skunk is a cute costume for a little child, especially if they are a little stinker. This costume is very simple to make, and your children can have a lot of fun helping you create this adorable costume. You can use your creative thinking and add your own special touch if you’d like.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black sweatpants
  • Black hooded sweatshirt
  • Black felt for ears
  • ½ yard of white fur
  • Halloween make-up kit
  1. Step 1

Cut out a rounded oval of the white fur for the belly or the skunk costume. The size of the oval will depend on the size of your child, but you will want to make sure that it will fit on the sweatshirt. You can attach this to the sweatshirt several ways: either with glue, safety pins, or sew it on.

  2. Step 2

Cut a small strip of the white fur to be attached onto the hood of the sweatshirt. Again, this will depend on the size of the shirt and child. Once you have cut this material out, you can attach it to the hood. It sometimes helps if the child has the hood on their head to arrange it the right way. They can then remove the sweatshirt so that you can attach it.

  3. Step 3

Trace out two rounded ears on the black felt. You will want them to match in size. After you are satisfied with the ears, you can cut them and attach them to your hood. It is recommended that you either hand or machine sew these on so that they stand up better.

  4. Step 4

Dress your child. You can even dress your child with black mittens, black shoes, and black socks to complete the outfit. You may even want to have more clothing underneath the costume if they will be outside in it and it is chilly. Make sure that they are comfortable in their costume.

  5. Step 5

Add make-up to complete the costume. A little spot of white on their forehead and black whiskers will complete the costume and make your child look adorable. Halloween costume make-up is available at most major retailers around the holiday season.
