You can make these Valentine's Day centerpieces in about an hour, and they will make a beautiful and romantic addition to your holiday table. Your family and friends will be wowed by this project. Keep an eye on these some of the edible arrangements, though, as they tend to disappear.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Red basket or shallow red glass bowl
  • Floral foam
  • Floral candle holders
  • Silk white carnations
  • 2 red 12-inch taper candles
  • Red foil wrapped heart candy
  • Wooden skewers
  • Red paint
  • Paint brush
  • Serving tray
  • 2-inch-thick Styrofoam
  • Tall glass vase
  • Valentine's Day candy
  • Chocolate roses
  • Artificial rose buds in red, pink and white
  • Artificial Baby's Breath
  • Wide red ribbon
  • Straight pins
  • Spray fabric glue
  • Silver glitter

    Method One

  1. Step 1

Place floral foam in the bottom of the basket or bowl. Cut it as needed to cover the entire bottom. Place the floral candle holders in the foam. Put the candles in the holders.

  2. Step 2

Cut the stems of the carnations so that the flowers come just over the top of the container. Make them just a little taller in the center and work them down as you come toward the edges. Use all the greens that came on the carnations.

  3. Step 3

Break wooden skewers in half. They don't have to be exactly the same size. Paint them red and let them dry for about an hour. Glue the heart-shaped candy on the unbroken part of the skewer. Let the glue dry. Stick the sticks with the candy on it into the foam between the flowers.

  4. Method Two

  5. Step 1

Measure the serving tray and cut a piece of Styrofoam to cover it. Cut a hole in the center of the Styrofoam about an inch down to set the vase in. Pin a wide piece of ribbon around the sides of the Styrofoam and place it on the serving tray. Place the vase in the hole.

  6. Step 2

Cut the rose buds to 2 or 3 inches tall. Stick them in the Styrofoam mixing up the colors. Stick in the leaves that came with the buds, too. Place the Baby's Breath around to make it look full. Spray lightly with a fabric glue and dust with silver glitter.

  7. Step 3

Fill the vase about 3/4 full of Valentine's Day candy. Stick about 6 chocolate roses in the candy. Place on the dining table or a coffee table in the living room.
