How to Make Christmas Tea Candle Holders

These tiny candles are perfect for placing on end tables or bookshelves. They also make great additions to larger arrangements or you can drop them into a decorative holder. Made with things you have around the house these make very inexpensive decorations. You can make these candle holders in about a half and hour and they make great gifts or party favors, too.

Things You'll Need

• Baby food jars
• Tea candles
• Thin ribbon
• Christmas stencils
• Spray glass smoke
• Tiny bell, pine cone and pine sprig embellishments
• Hot glue gun
• glue sticks

Instructions

1. Take the labels off and wash out some baby food jars. Dry them off well.

2. Place stencils on the jar where you want the decoration. You can make your own stencils by cutting your design out of a piece of paper and covering the rest of the jar. Or you can cut out the design and stick it to the jar. This method works well for the light coming through from the candle. Once you have the stencil the way you want it, spray it with the glass smoke and either cover the jar or just inside the stencil. Let the smoke dry for a few minutes and carefully take your stencils off.

3. Use a thin piece of ribbon to go around the top of the jar to hide the threads. Tie the ribbon into a bow. You can use a little hot glue to hold the ribbon into place and hold the bow up.

4. Glue on some pine sprigs all the way around the bottom. Then just under your design, glue two tiny pine cones and a tiny bell on the sprigs. If you are planning on putting the candle into a decorative holder than skip this step. Put the tea candles in the jars.

Tips & Warnings

• If you are artistic, you may want to paint on Christmas scenes instead of using the stencils and smoke.

• If you want to make this project for a child, let them put Christmas stickers all over the jar.

• Be careful to not let the ribbon go inside the jar or it could catch fire when the candle is lit.
