Lemon trees make a beautiful addition to any home. Their bright green leaves and luscious yellow fruit will brighten up any decor. Growing a lemon tree indoors is not hard and you will benefit from having fresh lemons throughout the year.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Place the lemon tree in a sunny location, such as in front of a picture window or any window with preferably southern exposure. If needed, use a 40-watt fluorescent lights overhead to give the plant enough light.

  2. Step 2

Water the tree every other day, keeping the soil moist.

  3. Step 3

Place the pot in a tray of pebbles to allow for drainage and also to help with the humidity. Lemon trees don't like a dry climate.

  4. Step 4

Mist the leaves a couple of times weekly.

  5. Step 5

Fertilize the plant both in late winter and early summer. Use a 20-10-10 acidic fertilizer or one specifically for citrus plants.

Tips & Warnings
  • When purchasing a lemon tree, look for a Meyer lemon tree as these are easiest to grow and produce a lot of fruit.
