Instructions

    • 1

Take a small mixing bowl and pour in a half tablespoon of baking soda. Add a half tablespoon of organic sea salt to the mixture. Stir the powders well until they are a consistent texture and color.

    • 2

Add two drops of clove essential oil to the mix, followed by two drops of peppermint essential oil. Mix the solution well until it becomes a paste. If it is not thick enough, you can add just a dash of water, or a couple extra drops of each essential oil. There are other mint-based essential oils out there, and they can be added according to preference. If it is a little too watery you can add equal amounts of baking soda and organic sea salt until it is the right consistency.

    • 3

Put the paste into the refrigerator until it hits its permanent consistency, which should be after about half an hour of cooling. Take the toothpaste out of the mixing bowl and put it into a jar, or whatever container you would like to use as the actual dispenser.

    • 4

Put a dime-sized amount of the toothpaste on your toothbrush and brush your teeth thoroughly. The baking soda and the salt work to clean and whiten your teeth, while the peppermint and clove essential oils mask the taste. You want to rinse especially well when you are finished to get out all of the sea salt and baking soda. It is best if you use a mouth wash after you are finished with brushing your teeth.

    • 5

You should be able to keep this toothpaste fresh for several weeks, but it is best when kept in the refrigerator. Keep the temperature of the refrigerator at a reasonable level, and if it is too low you may find frost on the top of the toothpaste. You can keep it in the bathroom, but try not to keep it there much over a month.

Tips & Warnings

  • * Keep the toothpaste in a jar because it will be too thick to put into an empty tube.

  • * Use this toothpaste twice a day.
