A double crochet is one of the foundation stitches of crochet. It is used alone and in cluster stitches, and is relatively easy to do once you get the hang of it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yarn
  • Medium crochet hook (5-6 mm)
  1. Step 1

    Chain 15 as a base. You do this by yarning over and pulling the yarn through the loop on the hook.

  2. Step 2

    Turn your chain and yarn over. Chain one, then insert the hook through the fourth look from the end.

  3. Step 3

    Yarn over and pull through, then pull up a loop so that you have a total of three loops on yourhook.

  4. Step 4

    Yarn over and pull through two loops, then two again.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat to create a second double crochet on your chain.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use a normal yarn for practice. Novelty yarn can be hard for even experts to work with.
