Many people love McDonald’s burgers. Not everybody, however, knows that you can make your own McDonald’s hamburger easily at home. Just follow this simple recipe to grill fresh, tasty burgers that will taste like they came straight from your local McDonald’s.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • Dill pickle slices
  • Dried, chopped onion
  • Mustard
  • Ketchup
  • 4 tbsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp. accent (MSG)
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • ¼ tsp. onion powder
  • Waxed paper
  • Electric grill
  • Spatula
  1. Step 1

Make the seasoning that McDonald's uses. Mix up the salt, accent, black pepper and onion powder in a shaker. Set aside.

  2. Step 2

Divide the beef into ten balls of equal size, and lay them out on the waxed paper. Freeze them way for 1 hour, so that they stay together when grilling.

  3. Step 3

Add water to the dried onions in a small plastic container and cover. Refrigerate for ½ hour, remove and drain out the water. This gives you McDonald’s “baby onions.”

  4. Step 4

Keep your favorite brand of pickles on hand. For McDonald’s type-pickles, they should be very sour. One to try is Heinz Genuine Dills.

  5. Step 5

Purchase plain hamburger buns, and set them aside. Inexpensive store-brand buns work well for McDonald’s hamburgers, plus they are already cut in half.

  6. Step 6

Preheat your electric grills: one to 375 to 400 degrees F for the burgers and the other to 350 degrees F for the buns.

  7. Step 7

Put the frozen patties on the grill. Most grills will accommodate four at a time.

  8. Step 8

Sear the patties for about 30 seconds after they are on the grill by pressing them down carefully and evenly with a metal spatula. Do so for a few seconds. Add a shake of McDonald’s hamburger seasoning.

  9. Step 9

While they are cooking, toast the buns by laying the bun tops face down on the second grill. After about 2 minutes remove them, and repeat with the bottom part of the bun.

  10. Step 10

After about 1 minute, flip your hamburger meat over, being careful not to break the burgers. Add another shake of seasoning.

  11. Step 11

Put the condiments on your buns while the second side is cooking. On the top bun, add mustard first in two thin circular motions. Do the same with the ketchup. Sprinkle a small pinch of baby onions over the whole top of the bun. Top with two pickle slices.

  12. Step 12

Flip the burger over and press down again to make sure that it is all the way done. Remove, and set it on top of the bottom bun. Add your top, and your McDonald’s hamburger is finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • American cheese can be added about 30 to 45 seconds before the burger is done for a McDonald's cheeseburger.
  • Be careful grease does not splash onto you and burn you from the griddle.
