This is an article about how to figure out what the gas mileage in your vehicle is.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A car
  1. Step 1

The first step is to fill your tank up completely. Or, if you really want to be complete you should empty your tank out completely and put in an exact amount of gallons (10 for example) and then run it until completely empty. But most people don't want to get stranded.

  2. Step 2

The second step is to reset your odometer then drive until your tank is about 1/4 full, or lower if you prefer.

  3. Step 3

Then fill your tank up completely again and divide the number of miles that you drove by the gallons that you put into your tank. This will give you the amount of miles you are getting per gallon.
