No need to run to the sytlist for a quick bang trim. You can do it at home if you take your time, and a few simple steps. Use that 10.00 you saved and buy a friend a cafe latte.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • sharp, pointed scissors
  • fine tooth comb
  • hair clip
  • mirror
  1. Step 1

Move all hair back from your face. Comb a fine section of bang that you want to begin cutting across your forehead. (do not we your hair)

  2. Step 2

Hold section between two fingers as close to your forhead as you can and using the point of the shears, snip into the bang on a slight upward angle. Begin in the middle and go to one side, then from that same center point to the other side. Look closely in the mirror, making sure both sides look even and bangs are the shape you want them. (Snipping up into the bang rather than cutting straight across with give you a slightly softer look. If you want a heavy, straight look, cut straight across with the shears.)

  3. Step 3

Next, bring down a thin, second layer of bang, and do the same thing. You should be able to see the first layer through the second, and use that as your guide line. Hold the bang between your fingers, snip into the bang on an upward angle with just the tips of the shears. Continue doing this until all of your bangs are cut.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is simply to get you to your next haircut, so only cut a tiny amount from those ends. You don't want real short bangs! Follow the line of the bang that is already established by your stylist, if it is angled longer on the sides, then do so. If they are straight across, then do so. The shape you cut into them is the shape you will keep for about 6 weeks.
  • When "point cutting" into the bang like this, be careful not to nip your finger with the tip of the scissors. Also, ALWAYS cut dry. Wet bangs will get shorter once they dry.
