Going through a breakup is just about the worst thing most people will ever experience. You love someone and then they suddenly leave and you’re forced to fall out of love. No one ever said it would be easy, but it is something you can do.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your time. You won’t fall out of love in a week, two weeks or even a month. Slowly and as each day passes though, you’ll begin to think about that person less and less.

  2. Step 2

Remind yourself of all those horrible things you ex did and said over the course of your relationship and in particular during the breakup. The more you focus on the bad things, the easier it will be to fall out of love.

  3. Step 3

Realize that the person you’re in love with completely broke your trust by giving up and walking away from you. Every day remember how this made you feel and force yourself to think about that rather than the good times.

  4. Step 4

Keep away from your ex and avoid running into them out and about. Change up your routine by shopping at new stores and going out to new clubs. The last thing you want is to run right into your ex with someone new when you’re still hurting.

  5. Step 5

Clean your house and get rid of anything that reminds you of your ex. Put everything in a box and tuck it away in a closet somewhere. Include absolutely everything that makes you think of the ex, no matter how hard it might be.

  6. Step 6

Spend some time working on yourself. The more time and energy you spend on your own wants and needs, the less you have to expend on someone that never deserved you to begin with. Do all those things you always wanted to do, but never could because of the ex.

Tips & Warnings
  • Realize that if the two of you were truly meant to be, you’ll have another chance in the future but now just isn’t the right time.
  • Don’t tempt yourself into seeing him/her one last time to get back your stuff. Nothing is that important and it will just make you feel even worse.
