The Hamburglar

The Hamburglar is an iconic American McDonald's character and a unique Halloween costume idea. Follow the steps below to create your own Hamburglar costume.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Black sweat shirt and pants
  • White duct tape
  • Black hat
  • Black eye mask
  • Red gloves
  • Red, black and yellow cloth/felt
  1. Step 1

The bulk of the work involved in making my version of a Hamburglar costume involves using the duct tape on the black sweat shirt and pants to create the jail outfit. Lay out the sweat shirt and pants and wrap them with duct tape stripes, being careful not to restrict the cloth so you won't be able to fit your limbs in.

  2. Step 2

Finding a black wide-brimmed hat like the Hamburglar's may be difficult, but at least include the yellow stripe detail around the main body of the hat. Buy a black cape, or if you'd rather save some money, cut up black cloth or a baggy t-shirt and use string to create the cape effect.

  3. Step 3

The red tie is a must for any adult Hamburglar costume. It needs to be oversized, so hang up your dad's normal red tie and make one with red cloth (again, you could use an old t-shirt). Find cartoonish images of hamburgers online to print off your computer, cut out and tape or glue to the surface of the tie.

  4. Step 4

Other essentials for pulling off the Hamburglar Halloween costume: red gloves and a black Zorro-style eye mask. Both should be relatively easy to come by. It may be a bit harder to find red and white shoes, but, let's face it, no one you'll see out on Halloween night knows what shoes the Hamburglar wears, so throw on a pair of black boots.
