Things You'll Need:
- Styrofoam or plywood from local home center to make grave markers
- Gray, dull green, and black paint.
- Ground stakes
- Outdoor flood lights
-
Step 1
Cut the Styrofoam or plywood to the size tombstones you want to make. I make them large enough to be seen from the road, or smaller ones to post along side of the front walk and entrance. They must be sturdy enough to withstand any weather that your location may endure.
-
Step 2
Paint the stones a medium gray color--like an old concrete headstone would look. Add the effect of moss with a little dull green paint using a small sea sponge. Coat the paint in a clear matte finish to protect it from the weather.
-
Step 3
On the front of each stone, post a funny made-up name that is oddly associated with Halloween or the season. Some examples are: Candy Sax; Den Tist; Bea Ware; Tommy Aches; and Dr. Visit. Other stones could sport such names as Bill Collector; Ben There; Don That; Princess Die; and Mark Mywords.
-
Step 4
Secure them with stakes so them don't fall over or blow away and shine lights on them so they can be enjoyed in the evening.
