Step 1
Football PracticeAttend one or two practices. If you get a chance to attend one or two of the practices it might help to soften the blow. The sound of the helmets and shoulder pads banging against each other can be rather overwhelming to a newbie.
-
Step 2
Bring a support team. It’s best to sit with other moms who are veterans to watching their son at a football game. They can talk you down through unfair ref calls, obvious foul play and the occasional limping player.
-
Step 3
Football BleachersDon't sit next to your husband. As you’re gasping and grabbing your heart while watching your child getting slammed on the football field, it’s best not to sit next to your hubby. His reassuring statements of “It’s only a game,” and “That’s why they wear protection,” and “This is what football is all about,” will prove to be little consolation to the newbie mom. As a matter of fact, it can become rather irritating. In order to avoid a ‘scrap’ in the stands, sit a few rows away from your hubby.

Step 4
Pray before each football game.
-
Step 5
Football GameLearn a little bit about the game of football. The more educated you become about the games the less you feel like all 11 players on the opposing team are single-handedly trying to maim your child. Education is key to surviving your son’s football game.
