Step 1
Select a Theme for all of your networks. Decide who you are trying to appeal to. Ex- Let's assume we sell high end hair products. We will want to appeal to hairdressers and individuals interested in hair.
-
Step 2
Start a blog on Blogger. Pick a catchy title. Ex. The Hairpreneur & Fashion Lover Space. Write at least three informative, or at least interesting, blogs a week.
-
Step 3
Start a network on Ning or Collective X. This is completely free! Make sure that the name of your network aligns with your industry. Ex. Hairpreneurs- A Place For Hair Professionals & Those Who Rock The Latest Styles. Start aggressively inviting individuals to join your group. Write interesting discussions that show off your knowledge of the field. Get a few companies with the same target market to pay for ad space. Make sure to cross-link your network and blog.
-
Step 4
Join LinkedIn. This is also a free resource. Invite your Ning/ Collective X contacts to join. Also add contacts from your email contact list. You will be able to network with their contacts through this service. Post your blog and network web sites on your profile.
-
Step 5
Start a Meetup Group. Possible name: The Hairpreneurs & Fashion Lovers Meetup. This can cost as much as $19 per month. However, I would suggest charging a small membership fee or finding a company to sponsor your group. In return, you could post their logo as the group picture (or as part of it). Begin planning local events or simply make reservations and have your group get together. Invite your local contacts from LinkedIn and Ning/ Collective X to join. If you plan on having an active message board, you may want to allow non-local members to join. Invite members of Meetup to join your particular group. Be sure to add your meetup group information to your blog, network and LinkedIn profile and vice versa.
-
Step 6
Get a radio show on Blogtalk Radio. This is completely free. Start broadcasting a weekly show. Using our example, we would create a show entitled Hairpreneurs & Fashion Lovers Radio. Bring on guests to talk about those things relevant to your area of expertise. You should already have an awesome network to pull from via your above established networks. Make sure to also feature guests not already a part of your network. This will bring additional audience members outside of your realm of influence. Cross-link your show with your other networks/resources.
