A character in any story is important, especially if it is your main character. Often in stories, characters may appear dull and boring, but by following these few basic steps, you will be on your way to creating a more developed three-dimensional character.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a character
  • a pen and paper
  • an imagination
  1. Step 1

Share information about the character's history. Are there any memories or events regarding your character that may trouble him or her? A character's past may help determine who he/she will become.

  2. Step 2

Decide what your character tends to do. What your character does on a regular basis can reveal a lot. Does your character have any addictions? If so, share.

  3. Step 3

They way your character can feel about another character can serve as a good source of information. Is she/he secretly in love? Does your character have an enemy? These secret feelings can be quite beneficial to who your character really is.

  4. Step 4

Don't forget about your character's biography. Descriptions of your character's physical or mental features are probably the easiest to write about, so don't forget to include this information.
