Are you getting a new mattress and not sure what to do with the old one? Clearly, this is a problem for a lot of people. So many mattress end up by the side of the road or in a ditch. Charity organizations won't take them for sanitary reasons. Here are a couple of easy steps you can take to make way for your new mattress.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

New Mattress delivered - old one removed.

Ask the company who you are purchasing your mattress from if they can remove your old mattress when they deliver the new one. Most companies will do this as part of the purchase price or for a nominal fee. However, if you order your mattress online, this probably won't be an option for you.

  2. Step 2

    Call your garbage service

Call your local municipality, sanitation department or garbage collector. They usually have the ability to pick up larger items, but you may need to make arrangements in advance. If they can't pick it up, they can provide you with a dump location where you can deliver it yourself.

  3. Step 3

    1800gotjunk.com

If steps one and two don't work for you, go online and check out 1800gotjunk.com. If you are willing to pay a fee, you can go online to schedule a pick up for your mattress, box springs, or whatever else you have that needs to be removed.
